Depending on your relationship with REST, this may include:

• quotation, survey, contract, installation, warranty and customer-care records;
• payment information and finance application information where you ask to explore finance;
• communications, call notes, photographs, monitoring screenshots and documents you provide;
• installer, supplier, media, referral or employment-related information;
• website device, consent and usage information collected through cookies or similar technologies.

REST does not need you to submit unnecessary sensitive personal information through general website forms.

REST may use information to:

• respond to enquiries and take steps requested before a contract;
• assess, design, quote, survey, schedule, install, commission and support a renewable-energy system;
• manage payments, warranties, certification, DNO communication, consumer-protection registration and aftercare;
• introduce a customer to a finance provider when the customer asks to explore finance;
• handle complaints, safety matters, legal claims and regulatory obligations;
• assess installer-network, supplier, media, referral and recruitment submissions;
• improve website security, performance and customer service;
• send marketing where there is a valid lawful basis and provide a clear opt-out.

The lawful basis depends on the activity. REST may rely on:

• contract or steps before contract for quotations, surveys, installation and support requested by a customer;
• legal obligation for tax, accounting, consumer-credit, safety, certification and regulatory requirements;
• legitimate interests for proportionate business administration, service improvement, fraud prevention, network security, customer care and defending legal claims;
• consent where required, including certain marketing and non-essential cookies.

Where consent is used, it can be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Where necessary for the stated purpose, information may be shared with installation and survey partners, equipment manufacturers and distributors, DNOs, certification and consumer-protection bodies, warranty and insurance providers, finance providers selected by the customer, IT and hosting suppliers, professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies and dispute-resolution services.

REST does not sell personal information. A supplier receiving information must only use it for the authorised purpose and under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection arrangements.

REST UK acts as a credit broker, not a lender. Where a customer asks to explore finance, information may be passed to an FCA-authorised lender or finance platform so it can assess eligibility, status and affordability. The lender is responsible for its own privacy notice and credit decision. REST does not guarantee acceptance.

REST keeps information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose, legal obligations and the ability to support the customer or defend a claim. In general:

• unconverted website enquiries are normally reviewed for deletion after 24 months of inactivity;
• unsuccessful installer, supplier or recruitment applications are normally reviewed after 12 months;
• contracts, financial and core installation records may be retained for at least six years after the relevant relationship or accounting period;
• certification, warranty, safety and system-support records may be retained for the useful life of the system or applicable warranty where needed;
• marketing preferences and suppression records may be retained to respect an opt-out.

Different periods may apply where law, regulation, insurance, certification, warranty or an active dispute requires longer retention.

Some technology suppliers may store or access information outside the UK. Where this happens, REST will seek to use an appropriate transfer mechanism and contractual protection. REST uses proportionate administrative and technical measures to protect information, but no online transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.

Subject to the law and any applicable exemptions, individuals may have rights to be informed, request access, correct inaccurate information, request erasure or restriction, object to certain processing, receive portable information and complain about automated decisions. Marketing consent can be withdrawn and direct marketing can be objected to at any time.
